Thread Summary

The forum thread revolves around the analysis and interpretation of hidden maps in images related to a puzzle or treasure hunt. Users share their perspectives on finding and deciphering maps in images, with some maps being more obvious than others. The discussion includes debates on the significance of map overlays, outlines, and symbols in the images, as well as disagreements over interpretations and the use of visual clues. There are references to specific locations where treasures are buried, such as Lafayette Square in New Orleans, and mentions of historical contexts like the Roanoke puzzle. Additionally, the conversation extends to issues of communication, behavior on the forum, and the limitations of technology in solving puzzles.

karleen

I had previously noticed a discussion about maps being hidden in the images where someone pointed out that the map is showing you where you want to be. I have been searching the threads for days to find this, but it appears that these are random comments in a variety of threads. Apologies if I have overlooked it completely and started the dreaded, new tread. I have found several maps in different images--mostly just a tiny portion of one--all of them cleverly disguised. In the Cleveland solve, the state and highways are shown but that was the state as a whole. What are your thoughts on finding road maps and how are you applying it to your search?

Merlot Brougham

Ok, I'll bite. I know you're asking specifically about roadmaps, but If this thread is going to be used as a repository for maps in the images, here's a start: Solved Map of a Flipped Illinois Map of Ohio Matched Map of Charleston Map of Roanoke Island "Disputed" Map of Florida Map of Quebec: Map of Manhattan: Heading out for lunch but those are what I was able to get to for now. Yes that is a bad image for an admittedly disputed match of Manhattan but there are more convincing ones. I'll add more later.

karleen

Thank you for adding these. I didn't want to quote it because that's a ton of images for this post. lol Anyway, those are more obvious than what I'm finding.........perhaps I'm just finding random squiggles but I don't think so. I'd post but it shows up too dark when saved. I'll keep trying.

But no one will believe me...

forest_blight wrote:: But no one will believe me... I like it. Which image? Also, have you checked Google Earth Pro? It goes back to 1994.

forest_blight

Image 1, in the dragon's coil. And yes, I practically breathe google

karleen

I think there's a map here, for NY, too. I've outlined it. Anyone have any ideas? https://imgur.com/92p3wed https://imgur.com/4kjs0xc

treetops

While I agree it's tempting to see street maps in the image 1 dragon, I'm skeptical of any proposed resemblance that requires big red mark-up lines lines to help me see. That's true not just of maps, but anything someone finds hidden in the images. An unadorned, side-by-side juxtaposition of image detail and proposed matching object should be sufficient for any of us to go, "Aha!" if the match is valid.

forest_blight

The red lines were just my way of emphasizing streets. If you don't buy it, that's okay - I've been saying the same thing for 9 years and still no takers. Oh, did I mention that Coit Tower is a giant pole?

treetops

Right, but you've used those red lines to emphasize Castle Street and draw attention away from the similar-sized Alta, Varennes, Sonoma, Genoa and others that would detract from what you want us to see.

forest_blight

Guilty as charged. The exact same criticism can be leveled against the maps of Illinois, Florida, and Quebec posted above.

gManTexas

There are all sorts of maps in the Images. Some of you may have seen my assertion that bright blue outlined portions are map overlays or simply outlines. There are also (some great examples above this post) "hidden" maps, which are not outlined in blue. In some ways this might be a second confirmation in addition to the coordinates or rebus in the Images. In most cases, I think we are beyond needing them, since the cities have essentially been identified. I'm not convinced there are any maps of the actual casque locations.

karleen

karleen wrote:: Going with the conversation, are you suggesting that the lines I outlined in the images above have to match up to exact streets without other streets in between or just that they should be main streets? gMan - if I understand you correctly, you are using these as confirmation of location area and not starting points?

gManTexas

karleen wrote:: gMan - if I understand you correctly, you are using these as confirmation of location area and not starting points? Yes, in a nutshell. In many of the puzzles the coordinates get you to the correct city, then the map overlays box you into the correct area. Then you have to find the correct park to search. Houston is a great example. The cyclone under the djinn (to me) looks like two of the bayou outlines that surround Hermann Park, and the Rhino's head is an outline of the park.

anus905

just saw your map of houston gman, is the the part you have as horn part of park? isnt that in the uni?

anus905

karleen, can you explain what the outlines in your wing map are lining up with...i was trying to line shit up from tail feather being delaware to the shapes you outlined and i just dont see it lining up in that fashion. the lines might be making an IV or alternatively an AI...or possibly both...there are lots of V's in this one to throw you off.

The blue hues have been brought up in the past. My issue in looking for a deeper meaning in them is, that particilar feature is a stylistic decision Palencar uses in a lot of his artwork throughout his career. Google Image Search "jj palencar" and take a look at some of his Non-Secret related pieces. Plenty of bright blue (and other colored) outlines. That doesn't necessarily rule out blue outlines in the secret from having deeper meaning, but something to consider.

Since The Secret was early in his career, is it possible that he adopted that as a signature style?

I don't personally think so, no, but that's just my own take on the matter.

anus905

there are road maps too like with the branch being the road over the bridge from Charleston to sullivans island and down toward patriots point (out to dewees island via butterfly). the guy hanging in roanoake are the roads and bridges off the east of the island. also to add to above post other part of Quebec (montreal to Ontario boundary) is in collar.

or what you fucking birdass? lol... fyi the blue hue in charleston takes you from the butterfly (which is african) to a sea creature that possesses bioluminescent charcteristics and buries itself in sand around Dewee's Island.

Unknown: That about sums it up. It would be more accurate if the artist had kept the division between factions in the last panel, and just assimilated Mr. Blue into one of them. Because if he is suggesting that the internet will make us all into one cohesive group eventually, he doesn't understand human nature all that well. People pick sides; always have, always will.

Wrong, Internet is connecting people, and it's doing it job You mentioned people pick sides. It's a "Freedom" of choice/will. The science/technology was never the factor, the internet is full of positive energy and information. Is the negativity of human nature that ruin it. People spread false information as if it's true. People are selfish and naive. People lack knowledge and intelligence yet people don't like to admit. I see everything new ideas new solutions, yet nobody suggest a change, a change in the system we communicate with , a change of information sharing we have now. No, no one, and there's this "Wiki" linked almost everywhere spreading things like " The reference to a "sweet smell" almost certainly refers to the San Francisco Botanical Garden's Garden of Fragrance located 100 yards to the west, across MLK Drive.... " what was that? almost certainly what!? We got into this forum because of interest, we get involved because we want to solved the puzzle. This puzzle that the writer/designer claim supposed to be easy and he expect the first one to be discovered within a month when the book was published. Yet after more than 30 years, only 2 were found. Do you see a problem here? Why? We have internet, we have smart phone, we have maps, Photoshop, Wikipedia, we have this forum. Where back in the 80's people don't have shit! A black and white copy will cost you $0.25 when the minimum wage back then was $3.35. So we should making 3-4 copies of the image, cut it out, flip it upside down, and draw a line in the middle between the arms of a woman to get the idea of the image? Or a 15 year old kid in New Orleans to know about the secret geometry of the Freemasons? From where? School? Library? Only because you can't figured it out so you make it more difficult for others? Get outta here. Please. 'The first step in solving a problem is recognizing there is one' we should start thinking about changing, and to those who's new to the term " thinking " , which they don't teach you in school. It's basically a focus of your mind, and start functioning your brain, and that, is if it's still functional of course... What is the message the writer tried to deliver in this book? Did he really have too much money and time he created these casques and hide them in different cities to make you scratching your heads out? here's a great clip some of you might like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CdfsCz1oKo

Back in the 80s we had pet rocks and the wisdom of our elders... We had fat family photo albums on our book cases filled with Polaroids of family trips to the Grand Canyon and the Fountain of Youth... Cold War was our horizon. The Statue of Liberty was undergoing renovations. Byron was sneaking around with a shovel and a duffle bag. I bet there's an FBI or CIA file report in deep storage somewhere based on his looking suspicious in an airport somewhere.

Mister EZ

Hang on a sec.... You've actually seen the Grand Canyon?! AND, had a Polaroid camera??!!

erexere

I had a sonar 1-step And a lifetime supply of film, won in a 5th grade school raffle.

Hey, lets get back Karleen's original discussion. There are all kinds of maps in these images. Some are general maps of states, cities, or parks Some are the ending point showing where the casque is buried like the Clock in New Orleans showing where the casque is buried in Lafayette Square. Once you are standing in the Square and see the clues you can go back to Image 7, look at the map, and see where the treasure is buried. Then there are maps that are so "in your face" that you can't even see them. We try to read more into the Image because of pure Human Brainpower. The Roanoake puzzle and Image 3 are a perfect example of this. The Brassman himself is the map. We just have to be able to breakdown the various clues of Elizabethan Park and the map becomes more clear. I bet Josh Gates would have loved to check out this puzzle in Roanoke when he was interviewing "Queen Elizabeth" for his "Lost Colony" episode. As he was talking to her all I could think was wow, the casque is buried appoximately a couple hundred yards away North of the Sunken Garden in that overlook of the beach.

why do you keep perpetuating that obvious fallacy...it says circle square..not square circle...if he meant square circle...he would have said fucking square circle...my lorrrrrrd. stop forcing, let it guide YOU. its very clearly pointing you to the end of Dare Ave. he does want you to go through the gardens but he did not bury it there.

erexere

MrBackstop wrote:: Josh, what fallacy are you speaking of? This is a question for all of us all of the time. The Secret in general leads us into dark water on almost all points. Even where we have examples like the exact match visuals in Cleveland or Chicago, we've never been completely clear on the logic behind bringing them into the design. Back in 2004, after Egbert dumps all the details he can recall during his meet with Byron, he says many things that may be considered canon, but still seem to fall into question. He says M and B were Mozart and Beethoven yet others say Man and Beast. Egbert says Byron himself said 10 x 13 was about feet, yet folks continue to say it's a tree grid. The fallacies are many. Who do we choose to believe? What makes sense in one context doesnt make sense in another. Josh's circle square vs square circle argument is ridiculous to anyone who isn't Josh, because Josh isn't capable of supplying all the evidence. That's not meant as an attack on Josh btw, it's just a result of the ever present "what do we choose to believe" problem. This hunt is full of pitfalls. People tend to see what they want to believe and refute on a whim. The PBwiki or many Q4T posts may be stacked full of facts, but absolutely none may actually be applied to the correct place or purpose. The problem in many cases is that creativity is needed to understand a casque location, but creativity seems to be abhorred by principle. Keep playing the game, but don't let yourself be fooled...and good luck.

Macfos

Seems that there maybe more than 1 algorithm to the puzzles. Some with multiple exact visual matches and others that do not. There is a big artistic difference in the paintings. Some with incredible detail and others that seem so general. Regards, Mac

It's not always paradolia. There are things there but it didn't translate to print properly and then continued scans and saves have caused that quality to be diminished even further.

erexere

The real diminishment in quality is in our landscape. 1982 is barely recognizable in most places...
